The Amman temple in Tirupattur district was found vandalized with Christian cross symbol painted all over the walls of the temple. Irunthai is a small village near Ulundurpet in Kallakurichi district. Several members of the Adi Dravidar community of the village have been converted to Christianity. These converted Christians have been accused of encroaching the temple tank and canal belonging to the Murugan Temple and trying to build a church. The area where the last rites are being performed that belongs to the temple is also said to have been encroached. This was brought to the notice of the local police as well as the revenue department but no action has been taken to remove the Church built on encroached land. This had led to the converted Christians insulting the Hindu Adi Dravidars in the name of caste, and even resorted to attacking them. They had reportedly damaged the two wheelers of the Hindu Adi Dravidar community.
