On December 9, 2021, Toronto Public Library and Ryerson University conducts an event: “Modi's India: How Hindu Nationalism Has Eroded the World's Largest Democracy” with speakers Christophe Jaffrelot and Sanjay Ruparelia. The description of the event uses the words like “militant Hindu” and “growing intimidation and violence” and “why do so many citizens in India continue to support the leader of the BJP” – insinuating that people who vote for BJP are “militant Hindus” and perform intimidation and violence. The series named as 'On Civil Society,' which houses 9 events to date, this event is the only one that goes beyond domestic politics, technology and global health-based fault lines. Christophe Jaffrelot, the main speaker at the TPL event, was also a speaker at a recent conference that called for the dismantling of Hindus and Hinduism and singled out five Hindu last names, deeming them as purveyors of violence and hate. He never condemned the remarks made at the conference or distanced himself from them.

Responding to a tweet on animal cruelty, Durdana Najam, a columnist in Tribune in Lahore, Pakistan, with more than 3,500 followers on Twitter, tweeted: “So what, start worshipping Dogs. It would be a good addition to the list of animals you Hindus worship...from snake to monkey to elephant to rat and not to forget the sewerage laden waters of Ganga.”

An attempt is made to paint Hinduism as promoting a discriminatory practice which is carried abroad when students go to Western universities. Citation is given to Equality Labs which has a large history of deliberate misinterpretation of Hindu scriptures and blatant Hinduphobia.

The reason that Twitter gave for the suspension was that the account violated the "ban evasion" policy, but when asked for an explanation, Twitter refused to give one. Due to this suppression of free speech, the stories of oppression faced by Bengali Hindus are prevented from reaching mass notice and their voices are stifled.

Around four years ago in 2018, a minor girl had run away with Mobeen who had identified himself as Rajesh Yadav. She was taken to Lucknow and then Balrampur, where she was forced to convert to Islam before getting married to Mobeen as per Islamic rituals (Nikah), later she came to know that Mobeen was already married three times. The family has also alleged that the accused wanted to sell the girl.

On November 29, 2021, Thenmozhi Soundarajan of Equality Labs, with more than 33K followers on Twitter, tweets: “In the grand silicon valley tradition of white cismen passing the torch to Brahmin cismen Jack Dorsey is stepping down and Parag Agarwal is the new CEO of Twitter. Will he also remain silent about Caste? #casteintech”

Responding to the tweet of the new Twitter CEO, Parag Agrawal, Yash Meghwal, an Op-Ed Writer, Blogger & Socio-Political Activist in Mumbai, with more than 130K followers on Twitter, on November 29, 2021, tweets: “If they not gonna make any change in their casteist behaviour(not liking Diversity), then why should I distinguish between white supremacist and Hindu upper caste Casteist?”

Responding to Elon Musk’s tweet in the context of Parag Agrawal becoming the new Twitter CEO, that praised the Indian talent’s contribution to USA, Yash Meghwal, an Op-Ed Writer, Blogger & Socio-Political Activist in Mumbai, with more than 130K followers on Twitter, on November 29, 2021, tweets: “Have you ever thought about Caste privilege of those Indians?”

The article further claims that Hindus don't face oppression at all India and that their concerns of violence and Hinduphobia are myths spread to attack the minority religions. It is also claimed that the intention behind the abrogation of Article 370 was to make it easier for Hindus to move into Jammu and Kashir so as to put down the Muslim population there. No evidence is given for this remark and no mention is made about the fact that this move reestablished rights for many Kashmiris. Moreover, this article is published one day after the Mumbai terror attacks which could imply that the writer was trying to shift the central problem on to the shoulders of Hindus.
